KNITTING NATION PHASE 3: The Stripe Game took place at Rhode Island School of Design with a group of knitting students in 2006. This phase functioned as a game of chance. Knitters were asked to incorporate personal choice in the creation of a single large fabric with the common thread of a red cotton and two other yarns of their choosing. The banner that emerged was fed over the railing of the mezzanine, growing and falling slowly, originating with the knitters. The final product, a conglomeration of varying handwork, revealed the affect of intuition on pattern.
